“404” - ERROR - Title Not Found
404s is an Ethereum NFT project containing 10,000 glitched-out PFPs. Founded by Swipe, the project centers on the lore created for it while balancing an art-first approach.
The Lore
The lore of 404 is delivered in cryptic messages ending with [Signal Interrupted]. These messages string together stories and describe places, people, and a culture. The strings of text have been interrupted and corrupted, so they’re partial and incomplete. (For those interested, all pieces of lore are included below.)
The Art
The artwork in 404s is based on the 404 error code that appears when a URL is entered incorrectly, or a webpage has been taken down. Each PFP is generated from 74 traits across five categories: background, clothing, error, headwear, and skin. Among the most sought-after are gold skin 404s.
